Aikido Dojo Nippos is the association for the diffusion of Aikido in
Crete, the modern Japanese martial art, which literally means 'the
way of harmony' and is a method for the unification of body, mind
and spirit. Goal of the founder of Aikido, O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, was
to create a world of peace and awareness, and Aikido is the method to
achieve this target. Today, self defense techniques belonging to the
Samurai's background are supporting a modern training for a personal
growth according to the laws of nature.
Our association, based in Nippos Apokoronas on the island of Crete in
Greece, together with the daily classes in Chania and Rethymno,
organizes summer meetings, seminars and stages with lodging, bed and
breakfast. The Aikido training includes breathing and energetical methods,
as well as traditional Japanese weapon exercises with the Jo and the Bokken.
Meditation and physical techniques are also part of the discipline.
